Principal engineer, whose career has been spent building payments systems inside South African financial institutions. Orchura settles through South African banks, and it is built by someone who spent that career on the other side of them.
Owns how the product is built, and runs the technical side of every partner connection.
Andre Rhoode
Co-founder · Operations
Repeat founder, who built a business from the ground up and exited it. Fifteen years running business operations internationally, on the commercial and regulatory side of the work that decides whether a route into a country opens at all.
Owns everything that is not code: the partner and bank relationships, the legal and company structure, the compliance programme, and commercial terms.
How it is set up
Your money is never ours to hold.
Orchura holds no customer funds. A licensed sponsor bank holds the rand and a licensed custodian holds the value crossing the border; Orchura instructs, records and reconciles. Every route, in and out, runs through one connection.
Customer value sits with the licensed institutions throughout, and never on Orchura's balance sheet. Which institutions, and the structure behind them, are covered in a conversation rather than published here.
We describe what a customer buys rather than the machinery underneath, through defined settlement windows and a clear record. Product imagery is labelled illustrative where it demonstrates an interface pattern rather than a live customer screen.
