How it works

How a payment crosses the border.

Orchura Realtime Settlement (ORS) is the service behind every payment we carry. You pay in your own currency, from either side of the border, and the business you are paying receives the money in theirs.

The sequence

What happens to every payment.

  1. Step 1. You send the payment

Tell us who to pay, how much, and which currency you are paying from.

  2. Step 2. We handle the exchange

You see the rate before you commit, and we hold it while the payment is on its way.

  3. Step 3. The money is delivered

The money lands in their bank account, in real time for most payments.

  4. Step 4. You get the record

Every payment checked and accounted for as the evidence arrives.

Most payments arrive in real time. Larger amounts, and payments where cost matters more than speed, arrive on the next business day.

What you get

What stays fixed.

  • One connection

Connect once and reach every route we run: into South Africa, out of it, and across neighbouring countries. We choose the route for each payment.

  • A rate you can rely on

You see the exchange rate before you commit, and we hold it for a set time. The amount your supplier receives does not move while the payment is on its way.

  • Reconciled payment by payment

Every payment is matched against every record as the evidence arrives. Anything unmatched carries a reason and is already being worked, and the statement is ready for your auditors.

Questions

What people ask first.

Getting started

What an integration involves, and who it is for.

With a conversation. Tell us where you pay from, where the money needs to land and how quickly, and the team scopes the integration with you before anything is built.

Organisations: enterprises, institutions, public-sector bodies and the payment platforms that serve them. There is no consumer app and no checkout.

An organisation that can pass the checks. We verify who you are before you go live, and we screen everyone involved in each payment.

Payments

Currencies, timing and the rate.

US dollars, euros, pounds sterling, rand and other African currencies, paid into an account that belongs to your business. We handle the currency exchange.

In real time for most payments. Where cost matters more than speed, the next business day on the lowest-cost route.

It is quoted before you confirm and held for a stated window. The amount the beneficiary receives does not change while the payment is on its way.

Control and record

Who holds the money, and what you can show afterwards.

Licensed banks and custodians, the whole way. Orchura instructs, records and reconciles, and never holds it.

Every payment matched against every record as the evidence arrives, with a statement for any period in CSV, PDF or JSON. Anything unmatched carries a reason and is already being worked.

Payments crossing the border are reported to the regulator where the rules require it, and a complete record is kept for the audit that follows.
